Question was legality not ethics or anything else.... and copying of copyrighted programing even is you paid to see it ONCE... NOT keep it to be watched 100's of times, let alone spread it.... is ILLEGAL.

Keep a copy just for yourself no real issue.... but don't bitch about DMA and limited record (usually one playback) owners just covering their butts when still current material.

An not really for the receiving person... but that the unethical don't distribute it while in the PPV time frame.

Unrestriced a few months later... or you have to sub HBO/SHOW if you can't wat likely not even a year.

if you download anything that you specifically didn't buy, no matter if you have that movie or music already, you are in violation of copyright laws.

for example. you bought the DVD for Pulp Fiction on the way to the airport for your flight. you get to your destination safely but you left your DVD of Pulp Fiction in the car back home. you fire up your laptop and via some high speed internet connection, you download/capture/etc a copy of the movie titled Pulp Fiction and watch it. you are now in violation of the law because you did not purchase that copy of the movie Pulp Fiction that you now have in your possession digitally. it doesn't matter that you have purchased a movie titled Pulp Fiction on some type of media somewhere in the world. you don't have a digital copy of the one that you specifically bought but a pirated copy instead. you are now classified as a pirate and are on the wrong side of the law.

A judge is not going to look at a persons cable package to see if they subscribe to a channel/show to say if it's alright for them to download a particular show/movie or not.

It would be nearly impossible and big waste of time to have lawyers and such checking that out.

You might be older than me, I'm almost 40. I wasn't trying to be insulting asking you how old you were, just trying to get a feel of the mentality of what you are asking originally.

I know a lot of younger people have a completely different feel of how things online should or shouldn't be. I'm not saying they're right or wrong, in fact the younger crowd may have a better since of where things are headed to be honest.
