| [ Professions] Transmute Spec, any reason to keep it?
Just curious. Been transmute spec for like two months now, doing my daily transmute pretty much everyday. Was hoping to get some nice procs on epic gems. So far, only got like two procs (two gems each). Anyone have better luck? Thinking I should go back to flasks to make more money.

| There's more to transmuting than epic gems.
These are some money makers with no cooldown that I use: Meta gems Primal Might Arcanite Bars
And soon Saronite to Titanium Bars
I have two alchemists, a elixir spec and a transmute spec, I find it handy. |

I'm flask spec'd myself and love it. |

| reply to DownLow Ya I moved my alchy over to flasks/elixer spec because xmute you basically get one chance a day to get your proc. When I farm mats for flasks I usually have 5-8 chances to proc my flasks. If I was bored enuff to level one of my alts up in alch I would make that one xmute though. |

There are actually quite a few chances to proc things with transmute spec.
Meta gems Primal Might Arcanite Bars |

| Well, maybe it's something you could look into if you're struggling with your xmute spec.
The Primal Mights sell for approximately 150-170g each on my server.
Sell them in stacks of 4 for the xmute quest. It's very easy to farm the mats since you can cut through the elementals with little issues on a level 80.
Also, the Arcanite bar mats can be bought off AH and the bars sold for at least x2 the mat price most of the time. But don't flood the AH with them, because there isn't a very big market for them. |

| reply to DownLow I switched from flasks to transmute a little while ago against the advise of a friend and wish I hadn't, I've gotten 1 proc which is almost enough to pay for the switch back which I think I'll be doing soon... any potions masters out there that like it by any chance? I've had some success there and am considering giving it a try |

| Looks like I may be lucky, since picking up alchemy and going transmute on my druid, I have proc'd twice x2 Majestic Zircon. And I've only been spec'd into transmute for about a week now.
Personally, I'm keeping transmute spec on my druid since I have flask on my DK, and because of the change to Saronite -> Titanium in 3.3. However, I think Pot spec would be good, considering the rate at which I sell Potions of Speed, and the rate at which I use Indestructible potions for DK DPS/Feral Tanking.
I definitely make more money out of flask procs than gem procs, simply because I can sell anywhere between 20 to 400 flasks in one day. And when I see 10 flasks out of the one craft, I get a little excited in my pants.
Generally for pots though, I just spam trade looking for a pot spec alchemist, although admittedly there aren't that many. |

| You can make 10 flasks in one hit.
Each time you create a flask, two are made. Spec'd or not.
This was changed a while back, instead of lasting 2 hours, they only last for 1 hour now, unless you have Mixology.
1 Frost Lotus 7 Lichbloom 3 Goldclover 1 Enchanted Vial
Creates 2 Flasks of Endless Rage
Any proc has the chance at proc'ing x5 the base outcome. So 2x5 = 10 flasks from a single craft. |

I've also got 6-8x's procs.
Flask spec Alchemy is awesome. 2hour flasks with Mixology + the added buff = win. |

| reply to DownLow I'm a transmute spec and i probably got maybe 4 extra gems proc since 3.2.2 has been out. From what you guys are saying, I think I may switch to potions spec.
Which NPC do you go to to change it? Is it just a simple gold payment or will I have to do some sort of quest? Just can't look it up at work. You guys are always helpful :P |

| reply to DownLow I've been transmute spec for about 3 weeks and have gotten one proc. Gonna go flask and see how i like it. Its not like you can't transmute anymore. You just drop your chance of proc'ing and extra gem from like what seems like 1/30 to 0/30. Even if you buy the alchemy mats (me, other prof JC, which is why I went transmute in first place) the chance to proc extra flasks is way more useful/profitable imo. |

| reply to DownLow yeah, procs on metas aren't as useful since the mats are fairly cheap and there's no cooldown. Saronite to titanium is losing it's cooldown, and is situationally handy, especially since I prospect all my titanium ore. If I actually needed titansteel for something, I could easily make up a bunch of titanium bars using transmutes.
Primal might and arcanite is situational at best. the only time I need them is if I'm levelling an alt's profession. Which is pretty much the same for everyone else. Although it would depend on your server and its population/economy. -- When the ship lifts, all bills are paid. No regrets. |
