[ TV] Rogers STB remote lag/pause...SDV?

For quite some time now, both my Rogers' STBs (SA3200, SA940) have suffered from intermittent remote lag and pausing. There seems to be no discernible pattern to when it occurs and for how long. I thought it might be due to signal levels, but I did some tuning and they're quite good.

Is this due to SDV? I have never seen a "SDV - Tuning" box.

In another forum, somebody posted:

"They all have lag since last November. The box receives a stop command from Rogers and it buffers your remote input which causes the box to sit still, then execute the buffered commands."

If this is the case, why did Rogers do this? And how do I stop it?

I get freezing at least 50% of the time when passing through ROD channels ... usually for 1 to 2 minutes. Damned nuisance.

I get it too and it's really bugging me. Thinking seriously about Bell's IPTV. Apparently it's got super quick channel changes. It just lacks some channels I'd like to see.

Happens here on the 8300HD PVR. I'd press buttons, and it'll do nothing, then after a few seconds all hell breaks loose as it responds to all the commands i pushed before... I don't recall it happening on the old 3250HD non-PVR terminal.

QUICK START

i'll wait for QuickStart aka the new IPG to be rolled out, then we'll see how fast it is.

Are you serious, Rogers is rolling out a new IPG?!

OMG i'll fuckin die if that happens... I've had the same shitty ass SA guide for 11 years, even before Rogers took over this area it was with Shaw!

take a look at Digitalhome.ca there has been talks of a new name for the IPG, they wanted to call it Rogers Home, but QuickStart sounds better. I think they need to pick the name before they roll out the ipg right?

Still just a rumour, Paolo, unless you have inside information.

It's already rolled out in the west, but it remains to be seen if they deploy it in Ontario.

Oh, god, I hope so. I want a REAL search feature. And less lag. And the ability to have the channels I don't get displayed in a different color.

used to before Shaw and Rogers swapped some Toronto and Vancouver territories. That's why there were so many complaints coming from the ex-Shaw areas of Toronto.

I loved my Shaw Wave. 10/1 in 1998. 11 years later I am still nowhere that speed because I refuse to pay the extortionist prices to get it.

The problem is your Shaw wave in Toronto today would never be able to give you 10/1 even if it was Shaw.

I know. It sucked when Rogers came and they lowered the speed to 3m/384k, then to 1.5m/192k.
