Really simple question!! Getting Cable in my bedroom.. help?

Hey im sorry for this really easy questions but all research did is confuse me 100 times more!!

I have digital cable in my living room. I want cable in my bedroom. What do I need to do? I talked to comcast on the phone they said I need to get a standard DVR box and its gonna cost me an additional 4.95 a month. I dont care about HD, PPV, or on demand channels. I just want the basic 1-99. What do I need to do to get basic cable in my room? Can I get some sort of box or splitter online and hook it up myself? Thanks so much you guys!

You can run that tv off of the other cable box but then you much view the same channel.

but $5 to add 1 box is a ok deal. the DTA will not get your full line up.

I am assuming the cable line is already installed in the bedroom. Do you live in a house? apartment? condo? If the line is alrady there, do you know where the lines are all running to you should be able to to just activate it there at the splitter. Have they done the DNE work in your area? If not you should be able to just hook up the line to the tele and have your channels.

I think this joe1234568 might be the same joe that posts a lot of comcast hate and misinformation at times take that under advisment.

Anyways, as a digital customer you can have a basic outlet, no cable box, installed in your bedroom and see channels 1 to 99 on a cable ready tv in analog if the comcast service area you live in has not gone through the digital transition. The digital transition I am speaking about is a comcast one not the federal over the air one.

If the comcast area you live in has gone or is going through the digital transition, which all comcast areas well be going through soon. Then you need to get a DTA box, to see channels 1 to 99 on any tv that you previously had no cable box on. The DTA box does not have a guide or any on demand or pay per view functions it is no frills box. As a Digital customer your eligible for 2 free DTA's for your home. Without a DTA your TV well only see NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC, and a couple of other local channels like the government access channel etc.

DISCLAIMER:
There has been much discussion on TV's tuning in the expanded basic channels without a DTA on these forums and others like them. These channels may or may not be viewable without a DTA due to encryption and other technical issues. The easiest option for the majority of customers is to ask for a DTA.

Just an FYI but not all areas use DTAs yet. I asked here where I live and they didn't even know what it was. lol So I have to pay for an extra STB to get the digital signal in my bedroom. Luckily this area has not converted to all digital yet.
