Firefox tabs

An irregular problem has started. Let us assume I have five tabs open and once finished with tab five, I decide to go to another web site on the fifth tab. I choose it from the bookmarks and sometimes it seems to snag and wants to find the chosen site but requires an immediate click on the refresh link at top. Once that is clicked it immediately is opened.
If the site will not open on the fifth tab, I click out of it and start a new fifth tab for the chosen site, and that works.
This occurs on version 3.5.4. I have FabTabs extension. I have enabled and disabled the tab extension with no change. Also, some tabs continually scroll the little circle inside the tab and some don't. This started yesterday.
Any suggestions?

What changed yesterday?

By that I mean, did anything update? Load anything new?

It caught me by surprise actually. I did not load anything new or add anything. When it started, I began the usual solutions: clear cache/cookies/history/virus scanning/empty files all of which may slow or prevent optimum tab transitions/web site retrievals.
Then I moved to the elimination process to see if one of the extensions was at fault.
Unfortunately, it is inconsistent. Once the tabs are open for a few minutes it seems all it wants to do is stay at that site. Especially if I want to load over it, therefore I just click out of it and reload.
