Re: Usual service? I have been with t-mobile for 7 years, and this is the only major service outage I am aware of. The sidekick thing was Microsoft's fault, even though it really hurt a lot of t-mobile customers. Anytime I have ever called their support, they have been helpful and friendly. While I don't think a national multi-hour outage is acceptable, I'm not going to jump the gun because I think they are still a better company at the core than any of the other providers. |

I have been with t-mobile for 7 years, and this is the only major service outage I am aware of. Seconded. Besides a serious outage during Hurricane Katrina (name me one provider that didn't have issues in the southeastern US) it's been very solid for me.
One thing that really bothered me last night were how so many people's first reactions to the outage was to threaten running to another carrier. No one guarantees constant, uninterrupted service. The reason for this is that there are things that happen that are beyond anyone's control.
That being said, I'd much prefer that T-mo had been a little more open about what actually happened. Just level with us, and you'd find us more willing to accept things. |

 | I third that. T-mobile has always been solid, and the customer service is WAY WAY WAY beyond the other big 3. |
