westell 327w direct connect problem

I have a couple of roomates, we like playing this game Dawn of War together. We use direct connect to play together. I cmd prompt "ipconfig" and get "192.168.1.95". They type that in and it works, I'm guessing because they're on the same connection.

However; a buddy of mine who recently got the game tried to direct connect to "192.168.1.95" and it doesn't work. I recently read this- »forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=49339 and found out that "192.168.1.95" is actually a lan created by our Westell 327w router at the house.

I tried following the directions of that tutorial... no luck. Are there any suggestions to help get the direct connect to work. I know from reading that I have to get my real IP address, which I know, and get the router to use that.

I'm not sure what you intend by "direct connect", but I am guessing it is similar to what is described in this wikipedia page.

For that, just having all of the computers connected to the 327w should work. Have them set to get an IP address automatically. The DHCP service provided by the 327w should handle the rest. That would normally work, even if there is no DSL connection available.

The 327w creates a LAN using the IP range 192.168.1.1 through 192.168.1.254. The BellSouth versions of the 327w will use the 192.168.1.254 for itself. It will set aside about 50 of those IP addresses that it can give out via DHCP.
