hmm

Well Just because verizons fios uses fiber it doesnt mean anything. Considering verizon is not giving all fios customers 100/100 connections what does it matter.

Cablevision is doing a decent job of competing with copper. Also considering fios uses the same way of bringing cable to the houses just over fiber means something also.

Couldnt cable move internet related services above 850mhz, get rid of analog channels live verizon did to get the same tv quality ?

Because when you spend your money on a connection that uses actual fiber, you are supporting the company that rolled it out, who in the future will be able to upgrade your speed when it becomes necessary, and not have given that same money to a company who runs off with the profits and leaves you high and dry when you need all the extra speed.

Are AT&T and Comcast planning on leaving the U.S. for the Cayman Islands in the next few months? While leaving their subscribers high and dry?

Name me one cable operator that offers at least 20 Mbps on the upstream.

Go on, look for one.

Yes, I know that if I want to pay $2000 per month I can get a 20 Mbps symmetric TWC circuit. Just like if I pay $500 I can get a T1 to my house with 1.5 Mbps of upstream bandwidth beyond the pale of cable and DSL back in Texas. The phone companies also offer that service.

I think it's safe to say though that nobody's going to get a 20 Mbps LightPath connection for personal use, though they'd DEFINITELY get 20/20 FiOS.

Cablevision comes close.

Which is why I said 20 Mbps. Yes, Cablevision comes close to offering 20 Mbps up, but has 25% less upstream bandwidth than a FiOS tier that can be had for $60 per month.

but fios *could* offer 100/100 because their technology supports those speeds unlike cables!
