I'm total newby, current torrent/eMule user. Can someone plz point me to a good FAQ about newsgroups? Also I was on this site '»www.newsgroupreviews.com/' , but number of the sites you can sign on with it is overwhelming for me  . I've seen some sites offering free trials, which ones are good/safe/'easy to use' ones to try?
I wouldn't mind paying $10/month for a good 'no-BS' easy to use for newbs newsgroup service.  |

Here are some good $10/mo. unlimited options without having to weed through all the services 
Astraweb - $11/mo.
Supernews - $9.99/mo.
UseNetServer - $10/mo.
Also as darcilicious mentions the Astraweb block accounts are a good choice. It really depends on how much you think you'll download each month.

the highest package you can get gives you 150GB. I have a 6meg dsl line with AT&T and used almost 250 last month. My connection runs me $35US/mo, how much do you pay for service that includes usenet? I will gladly take no caps and $11/mo to Astraweb each month instead. |

Not only are TPPs faster and have both vastly higher retention AND completion rates, using a third party news service allows some ISPs' users to fly under the "bandwidth cap radar". |

I've used Newshosting unlimited (14.95/mth) for years, I use Newsbin Pro for my reader, and Newzbin for my nzb service. All of them are paid but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I can get anything I want anytime I want it and I don't wait around for it. Other will tell you other options, this is just mine. Like with most things related to newsgroups everything is based on user preference and there are no right answers.

Newsgroups/Usenet is pretty good! I was skeptical about it all at first, but.. then I signed up for astraweb/supernews and a nzb index site and the rest is history! Been addicted ever since! |

Learn about nzb's -- they're like torrent files for newgroups. For example, »tvnzb.com has nzb files for tv shows.
Then use something like sabnzbd that takes the info from the nzb file, downloads all the parts and pops out the video file. |
