Home Address vs. Speed Test (Home Agent)

I’m new to this wireless business so please bear with me. First off my signal the part I’m responsible for happens between my computer and the tower , so good rx numbers, signal strength , Ec/Io are up to me and what equipment I put between my computer and the tower is that correct?
Now I’m going out on a limb here but after I hit the tower with my signal, I’m then sent via T1 lines to my home address (HA) via whatever HA number is displayed in my primary address slot, so if that home address is say San Diego and that server is very busy at the time I run a speed test even though I’m displaying good numbers on my DEBUG screen my speed results will not be optimal, however If say my home address is Kansas City and their server is not busy and I run a speed test from that server my results should be good, is that correct?
Another thing, is it possible to get better upload speeds from certain servers? The reason I ask is I found that my upload speeds seem to be better with a New York home address is that possible?
I also found that after resetting my Franklin modem my default home address was San Diego, which gave me very slow speed results last night. Millenicom shipped my modem with the Kansas City HA numbers set up as the primary, after discovering that I switch my home address back to Kansas.
One more question, when I run a ping test does that test happen beteen my computer, the server and back to my computer?
Sorry for all the questions but any light on this and anything else that is related to home address would be appreciated.

EDIT; Still learning I should be refering to Home Agent and not Home Address

Re: Home Address vs. Speed Test

Here's the thing. You can have great signal / reception between you and the tower you're hitting off of, but if that tower is crowded, you'll have slow speeds. This is before you even reach the HA.

Anything after that first tower can be affected by general internet congestion depending on the route the data takes. You can have some control over this by choosing a different HA.

In general, most people who choose to change their HA from the default will usually pick the closest one to their actual location. This will give you the best results, but not always. It's been said, for example, that HAs tagged as Area 7 are generally worse than the others for latency.

Thanks for the reply, I've been watching speeds tonight with a HA of Kansas, the speed dropped so I switched HA to 255.255.255.255, wound up in New Jersey, got great speeds again choosing the second number does what? Thanks again.

Think of it as redundancy. In case for some reason the Primary HA goes offline, the Secondary will kick in.

Thanks again, my secondary HA is 68.28.49.77, I just checked and that number looks like San Jose, CA but the speed test showed my HA as New Jersey, am I doing something wrong here? Also my Home Address the first line in my DATA window is blank, is that right?

Found what I was looking for, thanks Jim!
