nikinik posted : Help is on the way! I went to wildblueworld and found an email address to write to Wildblue about unresolved problems. I sent my story as stated above in this forum. A few days later I got a call from a Wildblue Quality Control rep who gave me his name and direct phone number. He said he would try to get a Wildblue Field tech to visit and check it out.

Later the same day I got a call from Wildblue Field Engineer Peter Pigeon, who scheduled a visit on Jan. 13. He said he was the same guy who called me months ago. He also said since I have low transmit power but normal receive strength, it sounds like the tria is failing.

As for a Wildblue rep calling you out of the blue about system problems, Peter said the Wildblue system does automatically report problems, and Wildblue does proactively try to fix them if they are serious.

I am hopeful now that my six months of system problems will be resolved. Also I will be given two months of free Wildblue service without charge to make up for the poor service I have endured. If it all works out as stated I'll be a happy Wildblue user again.
:D

They have a number of company representatives that regularly respond to peoples problems. You will not get a response on the weekend but other than that they provide help on a regular basis. You need to state the problem clearly and be willing work with them in solving the problem.
nikinik posted : Yes, I got a call like that several months ago. The guy said Wildblue was concerned about the low transmit power from my system and wanted to come check it at no cost to me. I couldn't commit to a visit time in the next few days, but he said he would call back. Never did. I wish I had his phone number!

I've been trying to get Wildblue to fix my limping system for six months now with no success. Only once did a tech (a sub-contractor) ever show up, and he claimed that since my wooden home isn't on a perimeter foundation (it's on pier blocks on extremely hard ground, like most older homes around here), he would have to completely reinstall the dish on a pole mount.

It's on a roof mount now, where it has worked fine for three years. He claimed he could lose his contractor license if he did anything at all to my system without bringing it up to building code. He wanted to charge $170 to put in a mounting pole. I think it was just an attempt to jack up his fees. By his logic I couldn't get a plumber to come replace a leaking faucet washer without bringing the plumbing up to current building code.

All I wanted was a check of the dish point, tria, cable and modem to find out why I have low transmit power. I refused to sign for or pay for a pole mount and the tech departed. He was a sub-contractor to LC Communications, which is a sub-contractor to DSI, which is a sub-contractor to Wildblue.

Next, LC Communications tried to send a tech who lives 4 hours drive from here, and he called to beg off, saying they would only pay him $40 for a service call, not even enough to pay gas, let alone 8 hours round trip driving time.

Next LC tried to send out the first tech again, and he said he wouldn't come unless I agreed to the pole mount and reinstall. I said no way, and he was extremely rude on the phone.

Next LC called and said they would try to find another tech who could come check my site and see if a pole mount was necessary. That was over two weeks ago, and still no contact. I've been waiting since June for Wildblue to fix the problem. If there was any alternative way to get broadband here on the rural Mendocino County California coast, I would jump at it.

Does anybody know how I can escalate my customer service issue and get it fixed?
