This is only for the downstream side atm, but it will help alot as mention above, if your having alot of slowdowns during peak hours. They gave me a Scientific Atlanta 2100 modem, which they swear is the right modem(I called 5+ times).  I checked the speed while the tech was here and he said sometimes it goes up when he completes the work order.  I told them about the 6120 and they said no, I have the right modem installed.<br><br>I'm tempted to go out to BB or Frys to buy a 6120...]]></description>

I wouldn't mind 50mbps speed and just bought a Moto SB6120, expecting the Ultimate plan to be under $100; but at $119.99, I'll pass.  I'll wait and see what the cost will be for premier plus when they roll that out.<br><br>I've had Cox internet over 10 years and they never enforced the cap.    ]]></description>

Picked up an SB6120 from Frys 2 days ago in anticipation of the upcoming Cox Ultimate service.  lvcm.test.com shows 33mbps out of 88mbps, but 700MB file download from usenet shows consistent 18.5mbps, which is about 10-15% slower than my previous SB5101 modem.  Obviously, I'm disappointed, but looking at SB6120, it is hardware version 1 with firmware from April, 2009.  It's going back and gotta stop buying from Frys.<br><br>As luck would have it, amazon.com had SB6120 listed at $64.99, which went up to $86.99 right after I ordered it today.  It was $92.99 yesterday.<br><br>By the way, what's the the cost for ultimate service?]]></description>

Decided to see if my speed "issue" was signal related, as a precursor I did a reset modem to defaults and a reboot. Upon restart and retraining, started receiving ~20mbit consistently(not counting powerboost). I then moved the modem one hop closer to main splitter and gained no speed increases(also tried a default reset here too). I think either the tftp config file changed or something to do with the picking of channels changed. ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1686964"><b>ZoSo925</b></A> : The Telephone Modem is only DOCSIS 1.5 or 2.0...etc.  You'll have to purchase a seperate DOCSIS 3.0 modem and just use that for your internet.<br><br>There arent any VIOP Telephone modems that I know of that are 3.0 and would be very expensive or not supported by Cox.<br><br>You are basically getting that VOIP modem for free because of your phone service.   Just get the Motorola modem, then call up Cox and tell them you want to provision the new Modem for Internet and you are all set.  Keep the existing VOIP modem for just your telephone.<br><br>Edit:  To save headaches and double trip back to Fry's, NEVER EVER purchase any modems form Fry's with an Orange sticker on it.<br><br>Basically, that modem was once used and returned and the serial number is registered with Cox.  There is no way in hell Cox will add that modem to your account.  You'll be forced to go back to Fry's and exchange it for new Modem. ]]></description>

IE8, 16.1 MB came down in a second or two, showed 16.1 MB per second for the instant the download meter flashed on the screen.<br><br>I also grabbed the 316 MB download of XP SP3; that only took about a minute to download :o]]></description>
