Vonage Automatically cancelled account after port out

After all of the discussions about trouble cancelling Vonage I was surprised when I received an email from Vonage 1 day after successfully porting my number away (to Ooma after 6 years with Vonage) informing me that my account had been cancelled...

Saved me a phone call.

A friend of mine ported his number to Tmobile@home and Vonage automatically canceled his account. However, there was no credit given for the remaining days in his monthly billing cycle.

I just ported my Vonage number to Voip.ms. Vonage automatically cancelled my account with about a week left in the month I'd prepaid. I had tried to time the port to occur right at the end of the billing cycle but there's a lot of uncertainty in porting dates.

I emailed Vonage customer service and received a reply that "we do not refund the pro rated charges on any service plan". I don't recall seeing this subject addressed in the TOS and quite frankly, it's not worth the time to dig it out and look.

Hope they enjoy the unearned revenue, looks like they're gonna need it...especially by creating a group of customers who'll likely never return.

I'm not a Vonage fan at all, as is well known.

However, I have to say, most Voip companies do not refund partial months, as far as I've seen.
