I have to say the phillies matched their talent.. The Yankees were better coached and their pitchers pitched better and their man guys hit better in this WS.. I don't follow much baseball but regardless of the money the yankees deserve the WS because the phillies are no joke
I heard some Yankee fans saying the Phillies suck and could never beat the Yanks. I said how can a team suck if they got to the WS 2 years in a row and take it to game 6. If some of the Phils bats got hot like Howard along with Utley (who had a incredible series) and we had some more performances like Lee gave us on the mound then the story would have been very different.

If anything it points out that you don't need to spend 200+ million to win it all. The Phillies spent almost 100 million less and achieved the same. And we'll be back to contend again next year for sure.

The Yankees spent a great deal of money but they spent wisely. It's nice to see the old home grown core of Jeter, Pettite, Posada and Rivera win again. Jeter and Rivera have blue Yankee blood and I think Posada does as well. Pettite left but came back. Jeter and Rivera will both go to the hall of fame and will retire as Yankees. Posada was a five time all star and finished 3rd and 6th in MVP voting during his career. Despite his age he is putting up nice numbers. He will also retire as Yankee and has a chance at Copperstown.

Congratulations to the Yankees and the Steinbrenners for trying to win the championship every year. Anything short of a world series is a disappointment for the Yankees. The Mets seem content to field a competitive team. The Yankees are so deep they are debating getting rid of Damon or Matsui.
