Ceton is set to take over the CableCARD PC tuner market

This has been posted over in other forums and I have been reading about this tuner for a few days now. All I can say is if it does what they say it will do, then say goodbye to every STB and the MDVR in my house. Good riddance to the crappy guide limited DVR storage and buggy interface. I have my WMC units already in place so I am set. Question is how well it will stream live tv over the network. I have no experiance with extenders, anyone? How well do they work... I mean the thought of only having to rent 1 cable card.... WOW!

ah sorry for the repost then, did not see the original article. Do you have experiance with extenders and did the original article address the multiroom capability?

The availablity of the Ceton CableCARD ready tuners are independent of any extender / multiroom usage as far as I can determine. What exactly are your concerns?

If it would have been available several years ago I would have been all over it. But I have nine TiVos each with 1TB drives in them, plus I can transfer anything I record from FIOS to my PC with TiVo Desktop that has access to 25TB of networked storage.

They better stream live TV easily over a network since I had no problem streaming live HDTV several years ago to multipe PCs concurrently.

An HD stream is extreamly slow. at most 19mbs. Even in 2001 I had a gigabit network and was sending my HD shows over my network.

for all that you were doing, you weren't streaming premium HD channels, which is the main advantage of the cable card tuners.

which TiVo still doesn't do to this day even with cablecards. It has to copy the show over (not pure streaming). And then there's the DRM flags

I will be getting this tuner for sure when it comes out. In a short time it will pay for itself as long as truway does not take over..
