Speedstream 5861 and Frontier Rochester

When I moved I wanted to continue to use my existing 5861 for DSL here in Rochester, but Frontier has changed the way they do things.. They promised me up and down that it would be no problem to continue using it.. So I changed it over from RFC1483 to PPPoE, put in my username, etc.. and it will not connect. Now they will not talk to me about it at all.. I know I have the correct VPC numbers, and the username the way they want it.. the only other thing they would tell me is I need to use VCMUX.. I'm guessing since the WAN protocol is PPP and not PPP/LLC, I'm using VCMUX and not SNAP but I can't confirm this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure they are not PPPoA in your area?

Try both PPPoA and PPPoE and try both Encapsulation Types.

You are sure you are using the correct VPI/VCI?

I have the correct VPI/VCI.. 0*35.. They're supposed to be PPPoE.. but I could try PPPoA, If I could figure out how to set it...

Not sure if this will help, but here is a chart of typical international ADSL settings: »server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/s-9···ion=view

What does that mean? The 5861 GUI has very easy to use setup pages. If you have the interface over or mis-configured, you might want to start fresh with a reboot factory command. Then use the pages below to set it up.

Mine doesn't look like that.. It just says has "PPP," "RFC1483," and "RFC1483 MER."

That has to be a very, very old firmware and I'd suggest updating it to at least v5.3.80 as seen in the images.
