| Which router?
Hi all,
my netgear router just died suddenly....maybe the power supply is bad?
Anyways, what router would you pick if you could pick any of them out there?
I was thinking about one that can handle opening multiple ports for more than one IP at a time (blizzard downloader ports).

1 edit | I use your old run-of-the-mill $49.99 Wal-Mart special from Linksys. Unless you are running some high-end tier cable/fios or several computers (5 or more) you don't need a super pricey, bells and whistles router. |

I would stay far away from Linksys, unless you like resetting your router every other day. I recommend D-Link. I've gone months without having to reset mine.

Anyways, I use my D-Link the same way I used my Linksys routers. Two friends at work threw theirs away and bought a netgear and a D-Link both happy to get rid of their junk Linksys routers. I suppose people can get lucky!

i dont like the newer sleek black linksys routers. i loooooove the wrt54g. i recommend it whenever possible.
d-link and netgear are good, ive no problems with them. i dont likie belken, tho |

Agreed, anything is fine for basic home use. I would highly recommend Tomato though, and if you buy a linksys get one that's compatible.

I use Linksys routers here at the office, at home and have setup a few dozen for various clients and all have been very reliable.
If gangral did go with a Linksys router and doesn't require 802.11n pick up a WRT54GL. |

As a few have said, the Linksys WRT54G is an excellent choice, especially with the Tomato firmware. |

I've been using my Linksys WRT54G v2 for years and never had a problem with it. I have been using the latest official firmware but have considered flashing it with Tomato just to see what all the fuss is about. |

How it is that Linksys get so many bad reviews that match the experience my friends and I have had to the letter?

What about all the new range-max and 802.11n routers that are out there? What are the opinions on those? If I were buying a router today, can't see why I would go with a 802.11g only router. |
