1 edit | Ouch. Granted, the networks don't compare, but Virgin (Sprint) has this beat hands down. I'll probably be buying a Virgin data card soon, as their coverage and rates more than fit my need:
Virgin's plan:
$10 10 Days 100 MB
$20 30 Days 250 MB
$40 30 Days 600 MB
$60 30 Days 1 GB
ETA: It appears VZW only lets you prepay for that time period, and after you reach your data limit, you pay overages. Virgin lets you buy a new package once you reach your data limit. |

Virgin lets you buy a new package once you reach your data limit. Virgin Mobile has worked out great for me since I only occassionaly use the cellular broadband service. If they didn't have a 30 day limit before the plan expires it would be perfect.
If I used the cellular broadband on a regular basis, it looks like the Cricket service is by far the best deal. A free modem and only $40 a month for up to 5GB is a sweet deal. I paid $150 for my Virgin mobile modem when they were first released. |

| Cricket's definitely the better deal but I think their data coverage is even more limited than Virgin's. Roommate had Cricket and he was constantly dealing with an overloaded network for voice calls, so I'd be hesitant to rely on their data.
Virgin's plan will definitely do what I need. I'm on call one week a month and there are times I need to get online quickly. 250mb is more than I'd need for those occasions. $20 every now and again, versus $60 every month... it's a done deal.
$150 up front sucks. But I think it'll do! Thanks for your feedback on the Virgin plan. |
