1 edit | [ Classes] My next toon to roll
Hey guys,
I have a T9.25 orc hunter on a pvp server and I love his dps to death and I really enjoy the hunter class. I also have a T9 ele/resto druid that is not as well geared as the hunter but I ALWAYS get into raids with him and really enjoy playing him especially as resto due to how damn powerful chain heals are.
I've been thinking lately of what will do more dmg beign equally geared and I thought of the shadow priests that are going to get the haste buff to work with their dots. I haven't played a priest since I tried a friends lvl 70 ud priest in few blues and epics in TBC.
What I want to do is raid (PVE content only). I was a UD lock in TBC for long time and I always enjoyed how kick ass his dps was and they are even more powerful in WOTLK but then my acct got banned. I am stuck choosing between an UD mage, UD warlock, or UD priest. The priest would get me into more raids being dual spec that's for sure. Who you guys think would do more dps in a raid (AOEing especially)? Mage, lock or shadow priest?
Thanks -- The Internet is about to go down....it is actually. |

Case: Onyxia 25m whelps (phase 2)
0. Life tap for increased spell power 1. Pop Felguard Frenzy (+20% attack speed to Felguard) 2. Drink wild magic potion 3. Pop Metamorphasis (Demon form, +20% damage to all your attacks) 4. Pop Demon Aura (AOE aura) 5. Shadowfury whelps (AoE + DoT) 6. Rain of Fire.
I hit 18k dps on whelps before. I will try to screenshot it next week. Nothing can touch the warlock with AoE burst. Unholy DK for sustained AoE dps, however. I had a rogue talking shit to me about having a fail 232 weapon without STR on it, and I did 13k dps sustained on Ony 25 for the whole fight to his 7.5k. Much qq on his part after that fight ("well, you were on whelps" -- uh, you were too, dumbass, FoK can't compare to wandering plague + diseases critting on 20 targets). -- "One can lead a child to knowledge, but one cannot make him think."

2 edits | Ah yea I been reading about the buff coming up for the spriests edit: I never tried a DK before. I did try a tauren protection spec warrior back at lvl 70 in TBC and it wasn't bad but I'm not interested in tanking.

They nerfed it after the influx of triple DK 5v5 teams.
To the OP, Mages are spamming two buttons currently and topping the meters on non-AoE fights. Not sure if that's going to remain the same come 3.3. -- "If it can't be done with brains, it can't be done with hours" - Clarence "Kelly" Johnson

1 edit | It seems like 90% of the mages I see that raid or do PVE content are all arcane spec. I am assuming that is the spec most beneficial and less gear dependant than say a frostfire spec? -- The Internet is about to go down....it is actually. |

| reply to Hpower I have a lvl 15 lock, but I would like a hunter too, on the dps side ranged are always prefered and you see all day on the LFG/Trade spams LFG Ranged for XXX raid...
Both classes are a "send your pet to attack" and ask questions later... Although I hate they go OOM so quickly and either you sacrife HP or 1/2 damage to gain mana back.. |

| reply to djlar You know, as far as gaining mana back, I use aspect of viper for maybe 5-10 seconds and I gain most of my mana back. But yes, I go OOM fairly quick depending how I play. When I use aimed shot in my rotation, I tend to go OOM faster. I should have my 4th T9/T9.25 piece this week and will have the 4 set piece bonus which is awesome. Should see a nice increase in dps.
But yes, ranged is very much preferred especially in TOC raids where there is always a lot of close range cleave/AOE/poison damage going on. That is why ranged is prefered; no dmg taken, no heals needed, and more time spent dpsing. I did a uld 25 run last night on my hunter and was around 6-6.5kdps. I was pretty tired and wasn't really trying hard anyway. Once I get my 4 piece bonus I probably will be closer to 7k. -- The Internet is about to go down....it is actually. |

| reply to Hpower Spriests should shine after next patch, and ya, no problems getting into pugs as a healing off spec i would say.
But a lock isn't a bad choice. At least there's no expectations to heal or tank lol (can you heal? dont want to, went LFG as dps, shadow is my main spec. But can you still heal? we need a healer. lol) . I don't see alot of uber locks on my server these days, in pugs, doesn't seem like an overly popular class, but all the better if you have one.
Just dinged lvl 20 on my alt priest yesterday. From all what i read on how priests are hard to level, i'm surprised how well i'm able to kill quest mobs and cc with fear. Going shadow spec i feel a bit OP to tell the truth. Its been easier to level than my alt mage for sure. Good survivability even against 3 mobs a level or two higher. So far its been fun, i'd recommend it to anyone who hasnt tried rolling a spriest yet. |

Thanks The biggest change that everyone is referencing is the fact that haste will now affect DOTs. So instead of 3 seconds between ticks, the time will be shorter and this will directly increase DPS. There are also some talent changes that are increasing percentages and such, if anyone posted 3.3 ptr notes somewhere they should be included in there. |
