Its almost silent actually but i can hear it. There was only one time I heard my ps3 wind up and get somewhat loud, I then dismantled it and took her over to the compressor to blow her out. this was about 8 months ago after having it for bout 2 1/2 years.
I will use the Roku to eliminate some "wear and tear" on the PS3, and probably should of been more clear on that,, Sorry for the confusion, My PS3 is quiet, But the Roku is actually silent.
I did try PS3 for netflix and one thing I do like is the option to search for movies in different genres instead of being limited to whats on just your instant queue like the Roku. I am thinking Roku will get this option also with a update.
