Well, I for one am happy the speed is limited due to the lack of crash testing. I can imagine that it does cost a lot to do crash but I'm all for the requirement.

Every other car company has to go through it and for good reason. Regulations apply to all -- and Tesla had to go through it.

These other companies will just have to find some investors -- like Tesla had to do.

Some cases.

I carry some vehicles that have just seat belts, and others that have seat belts, crash cage, airbags the works. Both are restricted to 25mph.

Yes, I also do full blown conversions now. Nice thing about conversions, no crash testing requirede, as they are licensed as a custom/hobbyest vehicle.

It's not the cars themselves that are slow. It's the GOVERNMENT forcing the manufacturers to place speed restrictions on them.

One of the EV manufacturers brands I sell, has a Sports Car coming out in December. Top capiable speed is 155mph, capiable of 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, over 100 miles per charge.
Cost ~$30,000 + Tax incentives that can bring total cost down to around $20-25,000.

Oh, BTW, GOVERNMENT is forcing them to restrict top speed to around 70, and retard the acceleration.

Thats as far as I will go with this tonight, as I know all it is going to do is turn into a flame war back and fourth.

Besides that, this is not a good comparison. Both the Carrera GT and 360 Modena are fully cars, with doors, and an interior. The Atom is a car based on an exoskeleton and has the bare necessities. Take the regular Ariel Atom vs the so called X1, as the Atom will pull a 1/4 mile in 10.86 seconds, 0 to 100mph in 6.8 seconds, stop from 100mph in 3.8 seconds, and has a curb weight of 1005lbs, about 500 less than the X1.

Apples to Banana's is not a good comparison.
