| That is a good question, if it is then I am at a tower about 8 miles away to the south, and would be surprised if I could even connect at that range.
Here is the map of current location, I am at the D and the tower is at the Y of Bradley. the next tower is over at elm and main street about 8 miles away |

Refer to the technical specifications for EVDO service. Download speeds can reach 3.1mbs but few if any users ever achieve that speed as the carrier usually reserves some of the bandwidth. If you notice none of the posted speed test ever come close to the upper limit. |

| reply to wareagletsf My signal strength is still good, but my download speeds yesterday and today are about half what they have been lately.
Just a thought - in their rush to implement 4G tech, could Sprint be diverting bandwidth from the 3G netowrk to support the 4G network's higher speeds? Or adding 4G to towers without adding any backside network plumbing? |

Jack_in_VA Premium join:2007-11-26 Mathews, VA | I have my 680 taped flat against a large window pane. It's a perfect heat-sink. The modem barely gets warm even when running a continuous download. |

| reply to wareagletsf Starting to look like they are phasing out the cdu680 they are shipping me a Sierra 598U.
The cdu680 I have has always ran hot, and for the past two days it has been too hot to touch even at idle, and this is even changing towers while moving on a bus so I think it is the modem burning out and not just increasing power to pull in a distant tower. |
