daveinpoway posted : If the equipment does not have a battery pack (which would be disconnected by plugging in the AC adapter), it is unlikely the jack would have a switch that is wired into the circuitry. It is possible that the original jacks had a switch built into them, but the switch would only be connected under certain circumstances.

rockotman posted : You say it has four pins, and that three of them are connected to the contact that brushes against the outer barrel of the adapter's connector? In selecting a replacement, you had better determine if some of those pins form a NC switch that is opened when the adapter is plugged in (similar to the schematic in the picture that you posted).
--
That's how you be great!
daveinpoway posted : Another option- get jacks that are close in size to the originals (but the plastic body may be a little too large). Use a burr in a Dremel tool to remove some of the excess plastic, so the jacks will fit in the allocated space.

Best to practice on some scrap (such as the bodies of the broken jacks) before trimming the new jacks.

tschmidt posted : Another option is to eliminate the connector and just solder the wires from wall wart to the device. All depends on how important being able to disconnect the device is.

/tom
