I disagree. The back AR has the perfect angle to watch for things like this. His job isn't just to continuously stare down the touchline. Remember, cards for events off the ball do not require an immediate stoppage of play. Next whistle, the AR gets the center's attention, and they talk it over.

You may miss the first time, but the next time something happens you shouldn't miss it. A referee and his linesman only job isn't to be solely focused on the ball.
