anon posted : Everything was resolved today. After my second phone call / repair ticket they eventually physically checked the CO to see that the line was provisioned for 3Mb. They didn't even need to stop out at the store. Thanks for everyone's advice on modems here. I'm going to register for an account here since I already have something for the Verizon forum. Thanks again!

anon posted : Update. It's now Tuesday, and after many reboots the modem still syncs right at 3Mb. I have a DSL splitter in the store with CAT5 running right to the modem, and its a Westell 6100 Rev E. Called CenturyLink and a nice lady with a southern drawl said "yeah sometimes with like the speed upgrades the tech has to come out and manually do it". Whatever. Centurylink can't even seem to do simple changes correctly. The last time I called them to change our rollover sequence at a retail location, and they actually mistyped the last number at the CO and ended up routing our calls to another company's fax machine. I had to call repair and make them change it same day (they previously took 3 days to make the rollover change). I understand mistakes can be made but this is the second time in a row. I suspect they provisioned someone else's line at 10Mb.

CTL 10Mbps Upgrade

anon posted : Hello, I'm going to CTL 10 meg on Monday and I have a 6100 Rev C modem.

I have read many times that the Westell 6100 Rev E and later modems support ADSL2+, and hence 10 meg service. However, in Westell's datasheet (»www.westell.com/images/products/liteline.pdf), In the first paragraph it says "All are capable of supporting faster ADSL standards like ADSL2 and ADSL2+ with software upgrades."

Does that mean I can grab a firmware image somewhere, load it onto my Rev C 6100 and it will run at 10 meg? If so where is the best place to grab the firmware? I only found AT&T / Verizon firmware so far. If I leave everything alone will it run at 8 meg? If I call CTL will they give me a link to new f/w perhaps? Thanks to anyone who has some insight for me.
