lordpuffer posted : Hi srr2....The product on the site that you gave me won't have drivers for Win 7 for 2-3 months, so I purchased the one above from Newegg (Creative), for they assured me it would work with Win 7 x64, and even sent me the Beta drivers for it. Thanks for the help though. I'm getting it today and will post the results.
--
UCLA Only On A Clear Day-Class of '81

lordpuffer posted : I looked at their website and left a message for them to call me back so that I can ask them a couple of questions....Thanks. I also emailed Creative and asked them what they have that will work.....They sent me back a link to this product: »us.creative.com/products/product···51&nav=2

However, nowhere does it say that it is compatible with a Win 7 64 bit system. Is there any way to find out for sure without buying it and trying it? I did email them again, however, they take a few days to get back to you and you cannot reach them by phone. I found it on Newegg at »www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···-Product
--
UCLA Only On A Clear Day-Class of '81

[hard drive] Two Questions Regarding Hardware With My OS

lordpuffer posted : I had a pretty good Quad Core HP desktop, however, the motherboard went bad and I decided so far not to try to replace it. I went out and bought an inexpensive ASUS Notebook, with a Core 2 Duo processor, 3 gigs of Ram and a much smaller hard drive (financial reasons). It is running Win 7 Pro x64.

I do have a 750 gig external hard drive. Can I load programs and files on this drive (mostly videos and music files) and have them work with my OS? There is nowhere the amount of room on my Notebook HD to do it.

I also have a very good speaker system. Is there such thing as an external sound card that I can hook up to a USB so that I have a good sound system? There is no external out for separate speakers on my Notebook. Even if there was, there would be no way it would power my speaker system well. Thanks.

EDIT: I see that there are external sound cards, however, I need one with a USB interface that will work with Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Looking around, I haven't found one yet.
--
UCLA Only On A Clear Day-Class of '81
