So rather than further hijacking this thread: »MCE: Digital Cable Advisor Tool Available Now! I decided that I should just start my own thread here.
So my next question is, do you have to have 1 DCT and cableCARD for each tuner, say I want to be able to record 2-4 shows at the same time? Or is it more dependent on the cableCARD, for instance s-cards vs. m-cards, vs. ??

1 edit | S-Card's only support one tuner. M-Card's support up to 6 simulataneously. But the device the cablecard is inserted in must have all those tuners. If you have say 3 single tuner digital cable tuners you have to have a cablecard for each one. But if you have something like the Ceton multi-tuner card you can use a single M-Card in that and have it work.
A good example of the above is with the external ATI tuners which only do 1 channel. If you have two of those you need a cablecard for each one even if they are M-Cards.
I would also check and see if your cable company uses Switched Digital Video or not. If they do you may not get all of your channels without a tuning adapter (and I am not sure if support is in MCE yet). In the case of the tuning adapters, Cisco's only support two channels at once and Motorola's support up to 6. Whichever tuning adapter you will need depends on what equipment your cable provider uses. If they hand out mostly Motorola set-top boxes you will get a Motorola tuning adapter. Cisco/Scientific Atlanta set top boxes and you get a Cisco adapter.
