darcilicious posted : Yes, there are alternatives and other streaming solutions for other platforms (e.g. I stream a lot of content to my iPhone day in and day out ;) which is all good fodder for this forum; however, this thread was specifically about Netflix releasing software for their PS3 customers :)

GibbyGano posted : Just to put it out there. I use PlayOn Media Server from MediaMall since before the official support on PS3, I still recommend it over the disc from Netflix. It can also steam Hulu, Amazon VOD, media from your computer to your XBox 360 and PS3.

I seriously do love this program.

Kiwi posted : Do you have a PS3 remote (Of course you do :)), if so just load the disk and use the left, right, up and down arrows to navigate. The first time you use the provided disk you will need to be logged on to Netflix to get the code for the PS3 Netflix disk request. HD is a real thing, but don't forget it's going to depend on your broadband up&down speed. Still have not had one single issue, except all the star clicks to cover the movies watched, even these can be done from the PS3; inclusive of deleting watched movies.

Using the arrow options on the remote lets you cruise your instant list and all available streaming movies.

Have fun, I am.

Cheers

travelguy posted : Mine came yesterday, tried it last night. After dealing with the Playon / Netflix quirks, I was not expecting much.

I was seriously impressed. Registration was easy - just entered a onetime 6 character code on a nearby computer. Played on a 46" DLP set with a 1.5Mbps connection, there was very subtle pixelation on large backgrounds only and no pausing/stuttering.

My only complaint is that the Netflix software uses the PS3 web browser setting. I had to disable a proxy server I use to get the Netflix software to connect.

Kiwi posted : Got mine today and on the 55" Plasma 1080p it looks easily as good as a DVD, was not really expecting an easy ride, but it was. Impressed.

Almost as good as sliced bread :D

Now I have something to make watching TV again worthwhile. The sheer pleasure of riding the screen from pop-ups and ad’s in an enormous relief.

Now watch ISP's try and screw it up, wonder how much bandwidth is involved....
