  I assume you were trying to change search providers. Nazcar See Profile ?
That annoying box in default in IE 8 and previous Browsers.
As MSeng See Profile suggests, search from the address bar.

How does one get rid of this annoying box?
1.Run Local Group Policy Editor (GPEdit.msc).
2.Navigate to Local Computer Policy -> User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Internet Explorer.
3.In the settings list in the right pane, locate and double click on Prevent Internet Explorer search box from displaying option. Set its value to Enabled
4.Click OK.
5.Close and re-open IE browser.
6.To re-enable and re-display the search box, set the value to Not Configured or Disabled.

I guess it's the same as adding this registry value:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Infodelivery\Restrictions]
"NoSearchBox"=dword:00000001

You mean that you have both (the search box and the registry value) at the same time?

The registry setting I have and set the same, TuneUp Utilities had set it that way already, but the path in GPEdit.msc I do not have at all. I have 3 folders, Search-Windows Media Player and Windows Update.

Ok, so I have a dumb question. If you get rid of the search box in IE8, what do you do if you want to perform a search on the internet? Do you go directly to the site, like Google, Bing, etc?

Just curious...
