1 edit | I assume you were trying to change search providers. Nazcar ? That annoying box in default in IE 8 and previous Browsers. As MSeng suggests, search from the address bar. Bob's your Uncle |

| reply to Nazcar said by Nazcar :How does one get rid of this annoying box? 1.Run Local Group Policy Editor (GPEdit.msc). 2.Navigate to Local Computer Policy -> User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Internet Explorer. 3.In the settings list in the right pane, locate and double click on Prevent Internet Explorer search box from displaying option. Set its value to Enabled 4.Click OK. 5.Close and re-open IE browser. 6.To re-enable and re-display the search box, set the value to Not Configured or Disabled. |

| I guess it's the same as adding this registry value: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Infodelivery\Restrictions] "NoSearchBox"=dword:00000001
-- Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself... |

| The registry setting I have and set the same, TuneUp Utilities had set it that way already, but the path in GPEdit.msc I do not have at all. I have 3 folders, Search-Windows Media Player and Windows Update. -- You are not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on |

| reply to Nazcar Ok, so I have a dumb question. If you get rid of the search box in IE8, what do you do if you want to perform a search on the internet? Do you go directly to the site, like Google, Bing, etc?
Just curious...
