new search feature

if you press the c button the io short cuts now has a new search feature the allows you to easily type in the name of a program to do a search.

I don't know why this wouldn't be accessible from the IPG ...

It is clunky-ish ... but finally something useful and progress in a positive direction.

It does what it's supposed to, I guess, but so far there are a few wishlist items for the new search feature that I have.

1. Make it accessible from the Guide
(still have to fix the guide button and make it go to the guide)
2. Have a full-screen option with collapsible menus
3. Include stuff you have on your DVR in the search
4. Have the option to have a full keyboard instead of the number pad typing
5. Not very speedy

All I can think of now.

Good things though:
1. OnDemand titles included in search
2. Ability to save searches
3. typing in actor(ess) name brings up stuff they are in
4. Recording from search function
5. ability to tune/play directly from the search screen
6. ability to preview VOD from screen and it goes back to whatever channel you had on (no need to tune to 500)

All I can think of now.

I know I give them a lot of junk, but I am so happy to say I am happy with something CV has done.

This is not bad, not bad at all. If this is an indicator of the direction CV is going in terms of user interface in the future, this is not a bad thing at all.

Obviously it could always be better though.

It's not accessible from the IPG because the IPG is a product of the SARA software from Cisco/Scientific Atlanta, the box maker. The iO shortcuts is a Cablevision product.

Welp, time to scrap the whole thing then and go back to square one! A brand new IPG it is!

it should be added soon to the guide. right now they have shortcuts in there . but i think there going to take enhanced tv or one of the others items out and replace with search .

the whole short cut thing has slowed the boxes down. It takes forever to go thru teh channels or the guide!

The search is now accessible from the main iO menu.

Wow, it only took 10 seconds for the shortcuts menu to pop up. Then another 10 for the search feature.
