| 1 wall decreases signal strength -20dBm
i am about 150ft away from a public access point antenna and the one single apartment wall gives -78dBm.
i went outside with the hawking hwdn2 and got a -58dBm with the satellite dish on the roof of my car through the sunroof.
i put the satellite dish on the dashboard and the signal going through the windshield dropped to -72dBm.
i dont know if i am more astonished by the apartment complex wall or the windshield, both really drop the signal strength (not the tx/rx error rate though).
what kind of walls are you passing wireless internet through.. and how much is the signal drop?
i thought the apartment wall was stucko or plaster, but i suppose it is thick concrete. -- windows xp home sp3 local wi-fi being offered by the daily journal (at&t) hawking hwdn2 plugged into ULTRA self-powered usb hub |
