<description><![CDATA[Thane_Bitter posted : Next time you are there, turn the water on and see if any water leaks out around or behind the handles, it looks like the valve steam seals on both taps are shot.  Water that is trapped in the pipe between the shower head and valves is likely slowly leaking out and depositing the oxide.<br><br>Can&#146;t say for sure but judging by the style of the handles, you probably can do the repair from the shower side once the handles are unscrewed and removed, you might have to unscrew the escutcheon (shiny chrome fitting that mates the valve to the shower cabinet - if you do have to pull them off, service one side at a time as this keeps everything aligned).  While you are replacing the stem seals, do the valve seat o ring as well, they likely are just as hard and worn out.]]></description>
