MSeng posted : Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with it considering its importance to you in your everyday use.

In preparation for the Windows 7 Launch Party I hosted a couple weeks ago, I spent some time setting up Speech Recognition, tested it pretty thoroughly in IE8 and then demonstrated its use.

For grins, I fired up this morning and tried out what you seem to have an issue with. I hate to say it but it worked just fine for me.

I found that if I took the time to go through the tutorials (i.e., the training of the system to my voice) very slowly and carefully, then the feature was proven to be quite useful and accurate. In fact, this post is being written using the speech recognition feature.
--
If things get any worse, I'll have to ask you to stop helping me.

Msradell posted : Last summer when I tested the beta version of IE8 I discovered a problem using speech recognition software with it. The show numbers command didn't work correctly and there were also problems making menu choices by speaking the command.

At that time Microsoft suggested I revert to IE7 so they could work on the problem. Recently I installed Windows 7 and the only option is to run IE8. Guess what? The problem still exists even though the two are designed to work together.

I have spent over an hour with Microsoft support in the last two days and their solution is to uninstall Windows 7 so I can revert back to IE7! Sounds like a great support solution to me! No wonder people become disenchanted with Microsoft. I really don't believe the problem can be that big since everything works correctly in the older version.
