Mizzat posted : Hi all,

I have a dishwasher currently and want to install a garbage disposal. In reading about the GD, I found that it is common practice to connect the dishwasher to the GD. However, what I can't find is what the benefits and risks are of doing this. Trying to search codes for GA and I haven't found anything yet about this being a requirement, as well as if having an air stop gap as well.

My thoughts: The hot water and and leftover food particles can be good to go through the disposal rather than clog the drain and in either case an air stop gap is probably a good idea.

Any other benefits or risks you all know or can think of and recommendations?

Thanks!
--
-M
