[XPPro] Windows update KB953297

This update will not load and appears every time I start my computer. Has been a week now. How do I either update or remove from my computer?

Have you tried getting it directly from the Windows Update site?

I have automatic update. I assume it's from the site?!

In your Start Menu you can go directly to Windows Updates. Once there, the site will tell you what you need.

In that case, see MSeng's links above.

Thanks MSeng but I am not adept at this stuff. Can you, or someone, put this into language I understand. It is not causing a problem but is a nuisance when I log on or shut down.

This is what the person did...

Removing 1.1 also eliminated the old hotfix. I reinstalled 1.1 (sorry, had to try!), then 1.1 SP1, rebooted, ran Microsoft Update, selected KB953297...and...

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security Update for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 (KB953297)

Cannot remove Framework 1.1. How do I proceed now?

Why not? What (if any) error message are you getting?

When I go into Add/Remove Programs, it says "this update cannot be remomoved".

Alright -- then I suggest you read the contents of the weblog link below, then download and use the tool provided.

I would STRONGLY urge you to proceed with caution and have your data backed up before you attempt this.
