Looks like the picture quality of the Red Zone channel took a hit again this week.
It had been great since Week 3 when we raised hell...but today, it is noticeably softer. -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

JeepMatt Delaware Fios Premium join:2001-12-28 Wilmington, DE 2 edits | Last time it almost had to have been the NFL Network's issues - i'm sure today was the same reason. I'm not blaming VZ on this one... |

Maybe I was watching with a less critical eye. I'll pay closer attention this coming Sun. |

| reply to JeepMatt Just flip from the red zone to your locals while it is showing your local game and compare apples to apples.....so to speak...It is definitely softer on the Red Zone. even the volume changes. I am almost certain it is a NFL network issue. The same signal is being moved around the country a second time. |

What a shame. I certainly won't subscribe to this next year unless they get their crap in order. -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

@verizon.net | Same here with this awful picture. Brought it up to Eric Rabe at Verizon forums and he stated that he has gotten no other feedback stating the picture quality has gotten worse. It is terrible this week. More money well spent... |

jmn1207 Premium join:2000-07-19 Reston, VA | reply to JeepMatt It is particularly ugly. The grass looks terrible. It's a blurry, fuzzy mess. The picture only looks good when the image is static and has time to "fill in". Any motion involved seems to cause problems. |

| Red Zone is an awesome channel at the sports bar.
At home, I have only seen it once a few years back, and if I remember correctly it looked alright. Although I was with a few people so the game wasn't at the highest priority
As of right now, I rather just watch one day or go back and forth. And if I NEED to watch the game I setup my slingbox on one channel, and stream it to a laptop infront of me/others. |

@verizon.net | reply to JeepMatt On my Tivo it looks every bit as good as the games on CBS, Fox, & NBC. Would not surprise me if the picture quality was worse on a Verizon box, since their stb's and dvr's are the lowest of the low. |

| If that is the case then your original broadcast signals must look like crap. This is all about a signal that is fed to multiple sites before it shows up on your TV. Plain and simple. Whether you want to believe it or not almost every signal gets bounced off a satellite (unless you are getting an OTA signal that is direct from a local source) at some point in time. Now if a station (the RED ZONE) is essentially rebroadcasting (bouncing the signal again off of another satellite) then of course it is going to look worse then the original feed and add an additional few seconds. It doesn't help that each time these signals are sent through another electronic device that the signal may by reprocessed again at each step. Come on guys, this is not rocket science. Did you ever notice that replays from other games always look worse? Or even better yet, a replay from a rebroadcast from the Red Zone? It looks horrid right? I better call Verizon? NOT. |

| Thank you Faulk for your great explanation...
If you actually subscribed to Red Zone (and watched it), you'd know we had this issue for Week 2 & 3, it was corrected by NFL Network, then the past two weeks it was in the shitter again.
I am not blaming VZ - but they are the provider that needs to notify NFL Network (as they did back in Week 3). -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

1 edit | reply to JeepMatt Does anyone have a problem where the HD is a little too zoomed in? I have HD on both TVs and when its on, the picture is kind of cut out of the screen so you cannot see the score, time etc.
I have hit the aspect button on the remote, and the cut out happens when it is zoomed out the most. (I.e. I zoom in and it gets worse). I do not have zoom on my TV, and its happening on two TVs. Already see the aspect button and it doesnt work (zooms in more, not back out).
Basically its too zoomed in by like a half inch all around. Finally, this is happening on two Tvs, and its on ESPN and Hockey so I know those are 1080i channels. -- I tie a rope around my penis and jump from a tree, don't you wanna grow up to be just like me!!!! |

| Good question. Both of these TVs are 6+ years old I might just need new sets. Still kinda funny that I can watch a game and not know the score until commercial. -- I tie a rope around my penis and jump from a tree, don't you wanna grow up to be just like me!!!! |

| Season Paid For
Despite all of the PQ issues - today paid for the entire season.
The OT games at Detroit and New York, and the excitement towards the ends of multiple games - today the Red Zone more than made up for its cost. -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |
