Dry loop working, could account be activated sooner?

Hi everyone!

I decided to go with colba.net (ADSL). In theory, Bell is coming next wednesday to install my dry loop but the person who had this apparment before also had ADSL with a dry loop. So, I plugged my modem and already have "sync" (3mbit down/800kbit up).

So is there any reason Colba.net shouldn't be able to activate my account before wednesday ?

Thanks!

If you have a valid username/password use them to see if you get a connection

I tried but didn't work. I also called Colba.net and they told be to call back tomorrow because there wasn't anybody who could help me today with that.

If your order is still being processed by bell you'll just need to wait until they are done

Did you get a error message for the username/password

I do not believe that's a good dea. As bad as this sounds, with these internet companies, you want to contact them as few times as humanly possible. If you call Colba, they might be inclined to think that there is something wrong with the line and have Bell just slow you profile down. The safest route is to just wait.

Connection could not be established: Disconnected by user

I aslo saw that I had a bad VPI (8.35 instead of 0.32) but still not working.

Oh well if Bell still need to do something more it's ok I'll wait. I though that as long as the dry-loop was working, everything else was in the hand of the ISP, but I guess I was wrong.

Thanks!

Try 0.35 instead

Having dsl sync is just one part
bell also has to:
establish the atm pvc circuit between the modem and dslam
establish a path from the dslam to the pppoe server

Your isp only needs to make your userid/password valid

If you modem has a builtin pppoe client you can put the userid/password in the client when the internet light goes "green" you're all set

This morning I tried with VPI of 0.35 it's almost seem to work now.

I can connect, I get an IP and everything but just after that I get a "disconected by peer" error

Also, if I do a check internet, I get :

DSL, Ethernet, ATM = OK
PPP = NOT OK

That sounds like the username/password is not valid that's a isp problem
I think bell has a test account you could use to confirm the error message
But tomorrow is the day your dsl should go live I would wait until tomorrow
