| DHCP server and APs with vLANs, broadcast issue
Hi
I am have hard time to get a big picture of the whole broadcast traffic in WISP. I am planning to set up mid size WISP. But i have to first understand the whole issue with the broadcast traffic, routing etc. I am planning to have this settup:
Part 1 ----------------------------------------------------------
1) Peplink 30 ---> zyxell 1200 ---> swith POE10/100 standard -----> 120 3 sector antennas connected with 2 delibarant Aps. ( 1 Dual, and 2nd Quatro)
2) The Delibe. Quatro serves clients 2.4, and Deli Dual 2 way backhaul with PtP link parabolic dishes, full approx. 20 mbit up and down simultanius)
---------------------------------------------------- Is this going to work for 200-600 user simultanius, just internet suffing? Is it optimix correctly, I don't want to spent tons of money.
Part 2 ------------------------------------------------------ So here is the IP layout
1) Zyxel 1200 DHCP server----> 10.59.1.1 255.0.0.0 Can server only 1024 static and dynamic users/ addresses. according to the Device specs.
2) Delibarant Quatro with 4 vLans ( ex. Vlan_1, Vlan2, etc... 1 for each Antenna)
-------------------------------------------
Questions:
1) Can Zyxell server DHCP for vLans? How that works? I read that in order to have DHCP server to serve dhcp address to vlans, the DHCP server has to have scopes for each of those vlans defined in first place. And that is the problem i don't have option to do that with zyxel 1200 V2. it only hase pool ex. 10.59.0.10->to 10.59.0.255.
I guesing this Zyxel 1200 will cause broadcast issue for me once i hit the over 200 simultaniuse users. The future WISP expansion is a suicidal .
------------------------------------------------------ Any recommendation on how to do this properly will be apprisiated? for this type of equipment i got. I sepent same penis for this zyxel 1200 it is used in hospital with hundred of users.
Am i missing here something ?

| I know you didnt post about your current config, but you are not going to realistically get 200 users on 3 sectors with your current choice of access points.
Im not so sure that Zyxel device is very suitable for WISPs. It probably doesnt give you enough flexibility for what you want to do, I would have suggested something Cisco or Mikrotik or other lower cost router combined with a vlan switch. I suppose it depends on if you are doing a hotspot or fixed wireless. You could use PPPoE but the Zyxel device doesnt support it that I can see. |
