| Redirected to a .ca site?
First let me say I'm NOT a fan of southpark, but on my dog forum someone posted a funny dog clip so I was going to take a look. »www.southparkstudios.com/clips/1···r+Millan It's the first time (that I've noticed anyway) that the site saw I was in Canada and redirected me to a .ca site. I must say this doesn't sit well |

| reply to jackie999 Yeh, happens a lot. Worst is when the re-direct page says 'but don't worry, you can see the same content on this great Canadian alternitive here!!!'
Usually you just get dumped to the main page, and most times the content isn't there at all anyway when you go looking. |

3 edits | reply to jackie999 The problem is the US networks selling out the entire Canadian rights of programs to Canadian cable/specialty channel companies.
This is why our Netflix equivalent zip.ca cannot get rights to most things for their future on demand service. It might/will compete with CTV, Global, Rogers or that stupid company called Astral Media. |

Where's my Canadian Hulu? |

| It's more like the Canadian networks have decided to each run their own shop. The Canadian networks don't get a dime from Cable for their channels. So that isn't what's stopping them.
However, there is lots of speculation that Hulu wants to charge. Oh noes! |

Sorry but none of this has ANYTHING to do with the "Local TV" feud. |

| reply to freejazz_RdJ said by freejazz_RdJ :The Canadian networks don't get a dime from Cable any viewers for their channels. So that isn't what's stopping them. FTFY.
But, seriously, their model has been not to charge viewers for the content, but rather to use advertising. If that model is broken, so be it, they need to become specialty channels like the rest.
However, I don't think it's broken, I just think they're too shortsighted to do what European OTA providers did: Switch to a wider distribution method, ie: FTA Satellite.
Won't happen here, though, because North American corporations (and governments!) never work for the future, they work for the past. |

They seem to think its heretical to make more money and charge less. Not to mention possibly reaching clients outside of their traditional viewer base. |

| reply to jackie999 I hate it when sites do this. Google does it as well, unless you accept cookies. The search results are different from .ca and .com, therefor I always choose .com It's like they're (whichever sites do this) trying to create virtual borders where no borders belong. |

So I just dl'd the show I wanted...from a nameless .it site.
