Re: Changing Times

I had that exact same TI-99/4A, with the brushed metal finish. Did you guys have the Speech Synthesis module? Sounded creepy.

Hunt the Wumpus was my favorite game back then.

The first machine I had with a hard drive was an IBM XT with a 20 MB.

Edit: Wow, after all this time I just realized I put 20 GB instead of MB.

Not sure what all we had. I do know we had a tape drive, couple joy sticks and some game cartridges. Space Invaders, some tank game, and a few others I can't recall at the moment. I'd have to go out and unpack it to see what we had.

After the Texas Instruments computer we had, we went to a Commodore 64. I loved that computer. We upgraded to a 128 and I think I still have that one too. Can't remember the next computer we got, but was an IBM something.

Ahhhhh....memories.
I started with a C64 then went right to Windows 3.0 and soon to 3.1... all on 1.44mB FLOPPY DISKS! I remember that the C64 took half a page of code just to make the thing beep. I think like 7 pages to get it to play "Jingle Bells" with monotone system beeps.

The truly sad part was that when you did it without any tape drives or floppy's

yeah.. I never brought this up before because I figured no one cared but I think with broadband that's when demo's got so big.. hell I remember back in 1998 we had maybe 190MB demo at the most.

My first hard drive I brought was a maxtor 5.6GB drive back in late 1997.. I still have it around here someplace and it still works...

but not the smallest drive I had.. it's been so long (1996) I forget what the size was in the computer lol
