Layoffs announced

Tonight on the local news (Kansas City where Sprint main campus is located), they said that Sprint is laying off 2000 people company wide.

Here locally that means about 400 people getting laid off. The reason given over the air? Need to save money to be financially viable as a company. No kidding.

And yet, I read stories like this were the company that is going bankrupt from spending money like water, is paying 1 BILLION for a venture capital investment.

They said that by laying off these 2000 workers they would save about 100 Million in the coming year. 100M=/=1 Billion. So where are they getting the extra cash from?

Someone is putting the cart before the horse on this deal.

No. A billion (1,000,000,000) is one thousand million (1,000,000).

And one trillion is one thousand billion.

100 million is not equal to 1 billion. 1 Billion is equal one million times one million. That is, 1 billion = 1000,000,000,000 = 1012. But in the American System, 1 billion is one thousand times one million. That is, 1000,000,000 = 109. It looks like that in America, does not exist such a thing called one thousand million. But of course there is. One billion and One thousand millions are two different numbers. I can say One thousand million, because million covers thousand, as well as I can say One hundred thousands since thousand covers hundreds.

So, I don't believe that 1 Billion = 1000,000,000 but is definitely not 100 million

And thats why I put the =/=....LOL

Not equal to.

Was trying to point out that even though they are laying off all those people to save 100 Million, they are spending 1 Billion that they just dont have.
