CylonRedPremium,MVM join:2000-07-06 Bloom County 1 edit | there are about a zillion things it could be - few Windows related. If 7 was THAT broke - it would have been all over the site and everywhere else - so by definition - it is not 'broke'. You and your setup might be having issues but millions have been using it since its release and they apparently don't have this issue very often. -- Brian

The 'default output used' is the one your monitor is connected to. The video card automatically detects what type of connection it is and uses that from startup.
That the OP is simply whining because they either didn't know what they were doing or screwed up their install has nothing to do with Windows 7. |
|
1 edit | reply to Frydays Well not clear by the OP if this is a clean install on a freshly built system. If so, then it could be a few issues:
Check video card and reseat if needed Check memory and reseat if needed Make sure PSU is enough
Also, are other devices connected specifically USB or the lan card? Try to boot up with bare minimum running and plugged in and work backwards from there.
If it is an upgrade then that may explain it. I always do clean installs.
Like others said, been using Windows 7 since beta and not a single issue. I use Ubuntu as my main OS currently though. |

3 edits | reply to Jahntassa my was allways default to VGA with ATI On start up and installs (using a X850 Pro)
then it switched to DVI after it was at the login screen
it was a pain in the ass
so i switched to NVIDIA 100% DVI
DVI 1 / DVI 2 / HD-OUT Component video /S-video/Composite video
is the "default" on start up YES ALL OF EM |
|
 | reply to Jahntassa Not always the case when also onboard video. I had a few mobos that would only try to boot up to whatever you defined in BIOS. If you had set PCI but tried onboard VGA, then nothing would display. I had to reset te BIOS so it would try onboard VGA by default. |

| reply to Frydays I'm not super impressed either.
The upgrade process from Vista was a disaster and I lost that install. The installed OS was slower than molasses, and even Microsoft's own .NET framework was fubar'd. So I moved onto a clean install.
Still lots of weird errors with the Intel gigabit controllers (server class motherboard). Ended up having to assign static IPs to get it to work consistently.
Even after a clean install it doesn't sleep/wake reliably. Vista wasn't always the greatest performer but it was a lot more solid on my machine, never froze once.
I'm sure most of this will get fixed with driver updates. -- AT&T U-Hearse Your funeral. Delivered.

 | reply to Frydays I am running win 7 and have no problem. I upgraded from xp and my win 7 is running much faster. Sounds like you have specific issue and not wide issue that would affect majority of the users. |

 | reply to Frydays Installed Windows 7 Ultimate over Vista. Installation was quick and flawless and I have not one problem or even minor complaint about it to date. Probably installed on a crap computer as he has yet to post his stats. |

Try deleting video card driver, and let window reinstall it. |

| reply to Frydays I'm very happy with Win7. Been using the RC and betas for many months without any issues. My criticism would be:
1. I miss the graphical network icon in the bottom right. I like knowing when my computer is accessing the internet.
2. Malware, malware malware.
Lately, the amount of malware my kids get into is astonishing. Thankfully, Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes work great but I do have one computer running the new Ubuntu version that just came out.
Windows is going to have to do something about improving their security. I don't see Win7 as being the solution. |
