Re: Refill or OEM cartridges? said by MnR:Hi Howie, I used to buy from LD, But when I opened three of the packs two were dry and one was only half full. They did rplace them, But the waiting time in between left me sitting here with projects to print... Their Ink is good. I may be buying from them again as my Walgreens stopped carrying ink cartridges.... MnR Wow, sorry to hear that... the 4 of 14 I opened were all full and work as they should. Time will tell how the rest are. I hope yours was a rare situation. |

| reply to 91537735 This thread suggests to me that one thing that begs to question is what company is good for refills on Laser based printers versus inkjet, meaning perhaps a company is good at one and not the other, which I would think could be likely.
My toner is running out on my ML 2010 Samsung and I don't know where to go to refill it. If anyone here knows a good toner refilling company, please share. I hope I'm not hijacking anything here. -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery. Put that fancy computer to good use helping to find a cure, your mom will love you for it. »Team Helix »Team Discovery |

| This is just my opinion, not knocking anyone else's experience:
Re-filling toner cartridges for laser can be pretty straight-forward and yield good results. Remanufactured generally are indistinguishable from OEM.
Re-filling ink carts varies between types of cartridges, but the success rate tends to be much lower for a number of reasons.
If you are talking about an ink cart where the ink jets or nozzles are separate, and in the printer (not on the cart itself), then it should be decent to do, however, the cartridges that have the ink nozzles as part of the cartridge? Not such a good proposition. Far too many chances of jet/nozzle failure!
The other issue, as others have noted: Most replacement inks are not the same quality as the OEM inks...there are exceptions, but buyer beware!
If you find a reputable company, some remanufacuted ink carts work fine, although again, there are some notoriously crappy places out there that do a lousy job! If you find a quality remanufactured source, stick with it! -- Deeds, not words |

But if you're printing photos or doing something similar where image quality is important, I would keep a set of the OEM cartridges on hand as well. -- "The trouble with computers, of course, is that they are very sophisticated idiots." - Doctor Who (from Robot)
