Does FiOS have NBC on Demand or something similar where they show Heroes, the Office, 30 Rock, etc?
I was looking on the channel lineup but didn't find anything that I felt matched the description.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide, you seem like a very knowledgeable group.l |

| reply to AvidTV I've never seen any shows in the HD section for NBC. And their SD section is about 2 weeks behind. Actually, last Friday when I went looking for the Thursday night comedies, the ad playing in the background was for NBC on Demand and proclaimed that the shows would be up the day after air. |

| reply to Rexxriot For whatever reason, most episodes for most shows here in VHO12 have been behind. I've reported it (for ABC HD and CBS HD) in the direct forum and then the late showing episodes showed up on Sunday or Monday. (Haven't bothered with NBC HD as I don't track/watch those shows).
As of this morning though, ABC Monday night shows were not available; this all started happening about two or three weeks ago. Shows used to be available the next day. Now it's taking up to a week (and hassling Vz?) before they show up |

is it free? or is it the $1.99 VOD type? VOD television/channels are free -- that is, if you subscribe to the channel (be it OvationTV or HBO) then the VOD is free. If you don't subscribe to HBO, then you don't ever get the HBO on demand selections.
Movies are a whole different ball of wax, some are free, some cost anywhere from $4.99-$6.99 (I think, haven't checked. I get my movies from netflix over the ps/3 now).
I can't recommend any SD VOD selections -- they quality is crap so if you do a VOD movie, make sure it's HD or you'll have wasted your money entirely. |

is it free? or is it the $1.99 VOD type? Verizon seems to be the only service that offers up these broadcast VOD feeds for free. Other providers charge you for them. Realize, though, that for NBC and ABC you won't be able to pause, ffwd,or rewind the VOD feeds. They've been disabled. At least they have very short commercial breaks on the VOD feeds, so it's really not that big of a deal. |

I've been going to free/broadcast/nbc as that's where NBC shows are stored. But they bury the HD stuff separately. Why not just have it along side wherever NBC is. Whomever came up with their on-demand menu structure should be shot! -- People who don't get good service on average tell 10 others while people who do get good service on average tell 1. |

| I actually like having HD pulled out separately since I don't bother with SD via VOD. And it's pretty obvious where it is -- it's even available two ways (under Free and under High Definition). Just goes to prove that you can't please everyone all the time. |

Do people think...hmmm, I want to watch something in HD or do people think hmmm, I want to watch this TYPE of show.
IMO, the latter is far more the norm (again, my opinion). I would just find it odd to ONLY want to watch something because it's in HD. If there's a show someone enjoys, they probably enjoy it for its content just like they did in the years prior to HD. Watching something ONLY based on how it looks is kind of odd isn't it? -- People who don't get good service on average tell 10 others while people who do get good service on average tell 1. |

Anyhow, I don't watch HD ONLY because it's HD, I only watch what I like (e.g. Heroes) in HD. No point in watching it in SD as far as I'm concerned |

(Don't know about VOD in SD because I rarely if ever bother with SD) I have had Heroes in SD all season. Just checked and they now carry last weeks episode in HD as well. They have always been a week behind. I'm ok with that. If they were current, then no one would watch the "broadcast" version with commercials (local station has to make money as well IMHO) |

| reply to darcilicious Yes, last Friday's Medium wasn't up until today, in SD or HD. And, NCIS took a few days longer to show up than NCIS:LA did.
So, it seems that there's no rhyme or reason for when a show is available On Demand- some shows are in the VOD a day or two after the broadcast, others are there 5 or more days later.
But, I wish that On Demand shows that are only in SD were in HD, too.
And, why aren't hit shows like the Mentalist or Criminal Minds in the VOD? Mark F |
