I would rather hate the system that allows the MPAA to send shutdown notices with little or no proof whatsoever. There is nothing in the referenced article to indicate the MPAA has actual proof of an illegal download.

of course, there are dead grannies and people that don't own computers that can attest to how accurate the MPAA claims can be.

You are confusing the MPAA and RIAA. The MPAA is fairly reasonable when it comes to DMCA notices and doesn't fling lawsuits around like candy or extort users for $5,000 per infraction.

Anyway, a DMCA takedown notice just means they have to remove the infringing content, a completely reasonable request. It's the owner of the network who is at fault here as he decided to just shut it down rather than respond. If he would have simply ignored the error, nothing would have happened anyway.
