Why?

Google is going around not being evil, and they offer this. Why? Because more people online at airports = more Google views. Everyone wins.

Google isn't the government, and I'm sure this is dirt cheap compared to paying even a dozen people unemployment...
It is clear you didn't quite understand the post.

Also, if you think those Mountain View clowns "do no evil", just keep drinking that Kool-Aid.

I didn't say they do no evil, but they seem to try more than the average company.

Again, Google isn't Uncle Sam. They have no obligation to do anything philanthropic if they don't want to. In addition, wiring airports is cheap relative to paying anyone unemployment, and it's also a logical Google thing to do.

OK I will explain.

Original poster...

I would rather see Google pay someones bills who have been out of work for over 1 year due to these tough economic times then to offer free services to those who can afford such expensive luxuries like traveling via airliner.

Me...with clarifications

Yeah...perhaps like some people FROM Google (who lost their jobs) ...after kicking them to the curb (the Do No Evil Google did the kicking) when they buy a company and SCREW it into the GROUND. (the Do No Evil Borg did this, where many of my former co workers are still out of work 7 months later Some of us who were lucky to find work took a 50% paycut in order to eat).

Hope this clears it up.

Your post "Google is going around not being evil". While the words "do no" are not in the post, the Borg does a substantial amount of evil...every day.

At no time did I ever imply that Google was Uncle Sam. I was being sarcastic regarding the original post I responded to. That adolescent romper room with no clue how the real world works does plenty of evil, but their brainwashed fanboys across the entire Internet trip all over themselves with this "but Google isn't evil" crap.

Out

*shrugs* Companies buy other companies, and lay off people. Life sucks, but might be more efficient that way.

By the way, which company did Google buy and lay off people from? DoubleClick, by any chance?

dMarc Feb, 2006. Sold this past summer. Took 2 functioning products, currently working 24-7/365 and sunsetted them, for their "brilliant" system, written in Java, and so unstable, as week barely goes by without a crash. Products for mission critical environments that barely run 1 week. "Best and brightest" my @$$.

The Borg couldn't understand WHY the industry they bought into, just simply would not do things the "Google" way, just because, well, they are Google.

So they sell the business, and upset the lives of nearly 60 brilliant people...and if they had stayed the hell out of the business in the first place, we would ALL be better off.
