If you Google Sony + Spyware you will see several articles about the Sony BMG CD rootkit copy protection scandal. Sony Music CD's included software that installed rootkits when played through consumers computers. See the article in Wikipedia:

How much longer before cable companies and telcos who sell cable-tv try to screw the consumer since they own 99% of the last mile internet. Right now it might be the indie & municipal providers.. but this special interest is viscious and they won't stop at that. The XXAA's have even had an influence in Sweden.. land of the bays that pirate.
