AT&T had problems long before the iPhone made them worse.
What was AT&T doing when Verizon rolled out 2 *TIMES* more 3G coverage than AT&T?
And then Verizon started covering 3 *TIMES* more areas than AT&T.
And then Verizon covered 4 *TIMES* more of the US than AT&T.
Currently... Verizon covers 5 *TIMES* more than AT&T.
Is AT&T totally asleep??? And people wonder why AT&T has problems???
When is AT&T going to do something? In 2011 or 2012? I need to use my phone TODAY. |

No they didn't. They have an image problem. I use both and they both have plusses and minuses. I think AT&T has the better network though. Verizon is not all it's cracked up to be. |

I do agree that AT&T has a lot of catch up. Using a global standard (GSM/UMTS) caused them to be way behind in 3G deployment vs. a US standard (CDMA2000).
As the old saying goes... if you don't like the service, use another carrier. -- Canada = Hollywood North |

Even in the highly populated NYC metro area, ATT has coverage gaps. In NYC itself it can take a long time to connect a call. None of these issues are on Verizon. |

Funny you should mention that. I travel to North Jersey quite regularly. As well as have family and friends there, all on AT&T.
In 2004 I was on Verizon and had just those problems both in N. NJ and in Central PA. Long call setup times (I timed 1 at around a minute or so), dropped calls, and just generally crappy service from Verizon. This was on 2 phones so I knew it was not the phone. Went to AT&T and all was better.
I can also show you Verizon coverage gaps in the NY Metro area. As I can for AT&T....
And I have family and friends there - no reported issues or complaints from them regarding AT&T. We call, phone rings, and we talk. Things work fine. Mind you none are in NYC but in N.NJ, AT&T seems to be about the same as Verizon. |

 | North Jersey and NYC is not the same thing. I live in central jersey and AT&T has pretty good coverage accross most of this state, I'm a happy iphone user, however you get into NYC and service goes south. I think it's more do to the sheer number of users and interferance that you don't have to deal with. |
