AT&T is not stupid. ... and neither is apple. apple understands that there are millions more customers to be had.. I don't think AT&T has enough money to fork over to keep a device that they'll eventually level off on.
And, like you say that this is all rumor.. so is your position.. you don't know.. they don't know.. but, if I were a betting man and placing my chips on the table,.. I'm placing it on apple's side that they are going to tap into other providers to push more of their incredibly popular phone. |

Valencia, CA | Yup - Basically.. AT&T would have to pay for a the equivalent of a few million iPhones that VZW would have purchased + its own sales. NOT HAPPENING.
VZW / T-Mobile and even Sprint can now get the iPhone.
Apple needs to sell product (iPhone) and services on iTunes. With AT&T reaching a peak on what it can sell (many are now upgrades vs. new), if Apple has its new chipset, it MUST sell product, or it will be holding a lot of R&D budget in debt.
