Re: Whoop de doo!

Do us all a favour and cite the law?

Just because it's unethical doesn't mean it's illegal.

It's only illegal if the person is on autopay. Then Verizon is taking money that is not rightfully theirs (theft).

its unethical but I don't know the legality of purposefully rigging phones to send a few BYTES without user confirmation (you can't just push one button and send a blank text message somewhere). Also said BYTES being rounded up not to KILOBYTE but a whole MEGABYTE? thats ridiculous!!! 2 bucks at that, thats a lot of money per 0 or 1!

Are you saying that overcharging isn't illegal? Or is it only overcharging by a certain amount that is illegal? What if everyone opened their bill to find it $200 more than it should be? Would it be illegal for Verizon to knowingly charge $200 over the fair amount owed?

Note that word knowingly. The "insider" quoted is claiming that this is being intentionally done. If it is a software glitch, they should fix it and apologize. If it is done on purpose (or a software glitch that they purposefully don't fix), then they are defrauding customers. Last time I checked, fraud is illegal.
